When Solar Star entered operation in 2015, it was the largest solar farm in the world. The vast Californian installation brought together around 1.7 million solar panels across two neighbouring sites, setting a benchmark that helped to redefine what utility-scale solar could achieve. Although several newer projects have since overtaken it, Solar Star remains one of the most significant developments in the history of the US solar industry, establishing engineering and commercial models still used today.
