Katja Wünschel, CEO of RWE’ s Onshore Wind and PV business in Europe and Australia, is leaving this month to become Chief Development Officer at Vonovia. After 15 + years in renewables, she departs having significantly expanded RWE’ s onshore wind and solar portfolio. Sopna Sury is set to succeed her next month.

Sopna Sury will become CEO of RWE’ s Onshore Wind & PV business in Europe and Australia from April 2026, succeeding Katja Wünschel. Joining the board in January 2026 for a smooth transition, Sury leaves her role in flexible generation and hydrogen business development, bringing extensive renewables experience to lead continued growth.
