The signing of the MoU in Berlin of electricity, alongside solar and wind energy projects with a combined capacity of nearly 4.7GW. German firms, including Siemens, are expected to play a significant role.
In fact, around 2GW of that generation capacity is set to come from Siemens-manufactured turbines.
The Berlin signing also took place in the presence of senior German government figures who, according to Siemens’ signatory Hussein Shoukry,“ spoke about strengthening Syria’ s economic ties with Germany and emphasised the importance of supporting reconstruction efforts”.
