Sydney’ s One Central Park employs a similar style of living architecture, with around 35,000 plants currently spanning its 23 green walls. Perhaps the smartest part of the structure, however, is found on its roof. A bank of 42 sun-tracking mirrors bounces daylight onto a second mirrored array, channelling it down into the retail area below and allowing the complex to save on artificial lighting.

This ingenious design earned One Central Park the accolade of Best Tall Building Worldwide from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
