The City of Amarillo in Texas has entered into a partnership with Ecolution Power Company , the greentech company that turns kinetic energy from trains and trailers into renewable electricity . The stored kinetic energy will power electric vehicles throughout the city ’ s fleet .

Ecolution ’ s MARS technology enables the kinetic energy to be downloaded into a micro-grid at the train station , at buildings in the city , or placed directly into the central electric grid .

MARS trailers and rail cars can store between 2.5 – 5MW of power and they are compatible with any truck of any type ( including diesel and hydrogen ).
