SHELL CLIMATE RULING OVERTURNED IN DUTCH COURT
In 2021 , the Hague District Court mandated that Shell align its emissions with the Paris Agreement ’ s objectives across all three scopes of emissions . However , in November 2024 , the decision was reversed by the Dutch Court of Appeal . “ We are pleased with the court ’ s decision , which we believe is the right one for the global energy transition , the Netherlands and our company ,” says Wael Sawan , CEO at Shell .
