The Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System is located 3,500 acres in California ’ s Mojave Desert . As the largest solar thermal power tower system in the world , Ivanpah produces enough clean energy to supply power to 140,000 homes . Solar technology used at Ivanpah will generate electricity free of millions of tons of carbon dioxide and other pollutants — the equivalent of taking 70,000 cars off the road .
