Located near the city of Fowler , Indiana , the Fowler Ridge Wind Farm has | a nameplate capacity of 600MW . It was constructed in two phases , with the project beginning in 2005 and the farm being commissioned in 2008 . Throughout the years it has gone through various developers , namely Orion Energy , Vision Energy , BP and Dominion Resources . Currently , the project is owned by BP Alternative Energy North America and Dominion Resources , which each has a 50 % stake .

Located in Romania , taking up 110km sq around 17km from the Black Sea , the Fântânele-Cogealac Wind Farm is the largest onshore facility in Europe . It consists of 240 wind turbines , supplied by General Electric . It was built for the CEZ Group and commissioned in 2012 . As a whole , CEZ is a conglomerate of 96 companies , 72 of which are based in the Czech Republic , and has also has operations across Bulgaria , Hungary , Germany , Poland , Slovakia and Turkey . The company was founded in 1993 and has since grown to employ 26,000 staff .
