The rationale behind the latest designs No one could ever accuse Optimal Transit of suffering from a lack of ideas or ambition. Companies like Panthalassa, which develop floating data centres, have been showered with praise lately. Kraaken’ s designs take this concept ten steps further, combining compute capacity with mobile power and water relief, as well as on-board, wireless energy generation.
But why exactly did Optimal Transit decide to introduce these extra elements to what was already a complex concept? Jeff Kline, the President of InMar Technologies, says the shift in thinking was brought about by a simple question.
“ When we introduced the Kraaken as a data centre platform, we presented a self-powered, zero-emission vessel designed to dedicate its full capacity to compute,” he explains.
