THE ENERGY INTERVIEW
Mitsubishi Power’ s H-25 hydrogen turbine its entire value chain by 2040 while supporting customers on their own decarbonisation journeys.
At Mitsubishi Power, this means advancing low-carbon power generation solutions, including hydrogen-capable gas turbines and technologies that enable the reliable integration of renewable energy.
Together, these innovations help customers reduce emissions without compromising energy security or reliability.
Our strategy could not be clearer: we drive the decarbonisation of existing infrastructure while enabling broad access to affordable and sustainable energy for society.
Q. WHAT ROLE WILL NATURAL GAS PLAY IN THE ENERGY TRANSITION? CAN GAS BE AN ENABLER OF ELECTRIFICATION AND DECARBONISATION, DESPITE BEING A HYDROCARBON?
» I see natural gas as an enabler of renewables, not a competitor. Wind and solar are intermittent, they can’ t produce power around the clock. On the other hand, demand must be met around the clock. These sources, therefore, need to be supplemented by technologies that provide inertia, frequency control and dispatchable capacity, which is where modern gas infrastructure comes in.
